Amb(ass)ador at Your Service

Our society today is too busy (even though we currently have no where to be) to read the full length of a news article, locate reliable sources or watch commercials. So we turn to a social media Influencer or Ambassador. I am fully confident in a Beauty Blogger’s arguments stating if Kanye West is suitable for Presidency…

Since starting the blog, I have not actively sought out a company to develop a partnership with. This is because I am not in advertising (I can barely sell residents on recreation therapy). Also my social media presence is to make people laugh and I can’t imagine what product would jibe with my brand. Shoe grips?

However, not long ago I received an email from a supplements company named FNX Fit. They inquired about me being an Ambassador for their products.

I can see why my psychedelic, sarcastic humoured, no mention of fitness social media pages caught their eye.

What is even more hilarious is that I said yes. My hope was that protein powder would taste better with a discount.

When I joined the Ambassador Facebook page it was clear I chose the wrong table in the cafeteria – if these people even ate. Trainers, fitness gurus and Instagram models made up the majority of this sorority.

Was I invited as comic relief like the grave digger in Hamlet?

I headed to the website to make my first purchase after I was deemed an official Ambassador. I selected ‘complete order’ and the only thing I had completed was the wrong order. Not only did I forget to input the discount code, but I also ordered the incorrect products.

By the time I cancelled, it was too late. So back to the website I went to order what I actually wanted with the discount code. This partnership was already costing me in more ways than one.

Shockingly, I am no longer an Ambassador for FNX Fit and will not be showing you how to mix your cherry limeade pre-workout or how to successfully complete video calls…

In ABC Easy as 1 2 3, as Simple as Do-Re-ME, I resembled someone with a different name. Today, I contacted someone with the same name, but no resemblance.

Bright and early Wednesday morning I sat down with a resident to video call her daughter. A smiley, familiar, yet, puzzled face answered the call.

For at least 10 seconds, the three of us stared at one another with our mouths opened and eyebrows scrunched.

The resident turned to me and said, “do I know this woman?” Adding to a resident’s confusion was not on the agenda.

It appears I accidentally dialled in the wrong family member with the same first name. Damn you Baby Boomers and your repetitive names. I give kudos to the Gen Alpha generation who’s names are everything from Bexley to Axle.

I quickly apologized and explained the error. She then proceeded to ask how her family member was doing.

I unfortunately had to interrupt to remind her that another family member would be impatiently waiting behind their computer screen wondering if they had done something wrong.

So we did disconnect and I called the correct daughter who displayed no signs of confusion.

It’s safe to say Apple will not be asking me to be an Ambassador any time soon.

Hey there. I’m Rachelle. I’m a Saskatchewan girl living in an Albertan world. I enjoy the simple things in life like all you can eat sushi, that spiral brush on my eyebrows and freshly vacuumed carpet. I’m a Recreation Therapist and my day is about as predictable as my curls. The people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and my own clumsiness has resulted in some pretty entertaining stories. This blog is simply a place to share those stories and hopefully bring a smile to your face too.
